That's me!

Living a mundane life in Mumbai suburbs, preoccupied by ho-hum day-to-day concerns, here I am penning my thoughts and opinions on everyday choices one makes.
I have a very strong opinion about beauty, fashion and life in general.Wait a minute, by fashion, I do not mean the serious commercial fashion that goes on, on the ramps and fashion magazines. I rather mean fashion that refers to smart, functional everyday dressing; dressing up your part for the everyday life, taking everyday challenges head-on and effortlessly.
Moreover the true meaning of beauty, when your hormones start acting lazy with age, is more about the person you nurture within. Vanity is vain!
Like if I have to travel by the Mumbai metro in the peak hours my outfit for the day, the bag that I carry, the shoes in which I scurry need to be happy pieces that allow me to do all that effortlessly.
I really think hard before I spend my hard earned money on clothes, bags, shoes , cosmetics or vacations.
I am the besotted child in google teacher's class and do not like to leave any stone un-turned, or any keyword left out , while I do my searches.
There I am ! As real as anyone of you.

Each day is a celebration!

Early morning weekday scene: The daughter, all of 10, is getting ready to celebrate Teachers Day in the school.
She chooses to wear a comfortable cotton palazzo set . I am pleased with her choice. After the morning rituals, she slips on the dress and adjusts it carefully. She is now trying to tie a knot on the side of the dress.
I am watching her from the side. I offer her help. She politely but firmly refuses and continues with her effort.
I insist on helping her but she puts away my effort.
I realise it is best to let her do it her way.
I am pleased that she is growing independent in small ways and big.
She does not need me as much, and too soon.
A riot of thoughts in mind. I sort out each of them and emerge as a happy mother.
Wasn't this what I wanted?
